Ever wondered how cryptocurrency’s massive growth could impact your everyday life? Us, too.
The global cryptocurrency market has experienced significant growth, with an estimated value of $3 trillion. And that has a lot of people raising questions about innovation, competitiveness, and financial inclusion.

Why this matters
Crypto users aren’t just investors — they’re voters, too.
As policymakers debate the future of digital assets, the voices of crypto voters matter more than ever. We talked to 1,785 Shakepay customers — 1,744 of whom are eligible for the next federal election — to see what matters most to them.
Curious? Let’s dive into what we discovered.
Bitcoin and crypto users are an engaged voting bloc
Bitcoin and crypto voters are educated, tech-savvy, and young (84% of Canadian crypto voters are under 50).

Of this cohort, 91% intend to vote in the next federal election, far exceeding the national average of 60 to 70%. That makes them a highly motivated and influential voting bloc, with strong aspirations for Canada’s future.
25% of crypto voters are undecided
One in four crypto voters is still on the fence about who to support in the next federal election.
In fact, 39% of these undecided voters are actively looking for leaders who share their vision of financial freedom and modernization.

Just as noteworthy, 91% of undecided voters say they’d be more likely to support a party that backs the bitcoin and crypto industry. That’s a real swing vote opportunity!
Not just a trendy asset
For many, bitcoin is more than an asset — it’s a game-changer for financial freedom.
In fact, over 64% of those surveyed report an improved financial situation, citing benefits such as:
- Better spending habits
- More affordable remittances
- Increased wealth
What crypto voters want
Our survey shows that 39% of undecided voters previously backed LPC or NDP, but now appear to be looking for leadership that aligns with their vision of financial freedom.

90% would support parties that adopt pro-bitcoin and crypto policies, regardless of political affiliation, which could tip the scales in closely contested ridings.
That means: For any leaders who address the concerns of crypto voters can gain support from a tech-savvy, forward-thinking voter base.
The bottom line: crypto voters matter
Crypto’s explosive growth intersects with both finance and politics — sparking debates and driving policy decisions that could shape the future. And the policies set today will determine whether Canada fosters a thriving crypto ecosystem or falls behind in the global digital economy.
